I love living in Vegas. I can actually do stuff in the evening without having to worry about battling traffic or horrible crowds (unless I go to the strip). So I decided to join a social group in an effort to make friends and have fun for a change.
Good ol' CraigsList. Back in July I came across a posting from a gal trying to get a Bunco group started and I signed up.
What is Bunco? It is an easy-peasey dice game with a little bit of gambling, but really it is an excuse to get a group of 12 women together to gossip and eat junk food. Just a night of splurging and a chance to win up to $35. Here is more info about the game on Wikipedia.
We have a good group going and our recent meeting was last Friday night. It was our 3rd get together and by now we are loosening up around each other. Combine the familiarity with some margaritas or fruity wine and we are out of control! Well, as out of control as a bunch of suburban wives can be. So far we have covered the basics like our occupations, relationship status, kids or not, and we have moved into some deeper territory like giggly bawdy talk and innuendo .
Here are some photos of the gang. Darcy, one of our regulars was unable to make it, so Janis and Shasta brought their friend Anne.

Carol is the hostess with the mostest. She actually owns a cholcoate fountain. All of us gathered around and drooled over the flowing chocolatey goodness. She had a smorgasboard of treats to stick in the choc, but I think my favorite was just swiping a finger under the choco-fall and savoring the yum.

We have noticed a trend with guest players. They alays seem to win! Anne and I had tied for most rounds won. A whole $25 was on the line. We had to show down by rolling one die to see who get the higher number. She beat me. Dang it.

You may notice a few munchkins in some of these photos. They are not our regular group members. Carol's kids joined us for a while and sat in for missing players. They were fun to watch, especially because their little hands can barely hold 3 dice at once.
I vow to win next time. I just have to practice more. ;)
